How'd The Yankees Answer The Mets Blockbuster Francisco Lindor Trade? They Went Out And Got Greg Allen, That's How!

Yeah not great! Uncle Stevie and the Mets shook up the baseball world today by sending spare parts to Cleveland so they could take superstar shortstop Frankie Lindor off their hands. Sick. Everyone involved in the Indians front office along with ownership should be thrown in jail. What is that haul in return? You mean to tell me no one else in the league had a better offer? That seems impossible. The only explanation is that Lindor is giving no guarantees he's singing an extension so every team got scared off. Aside from that, the Mets made off like bandits here.

So what did the Yankees have cooking up their sleeve while the Mets made this big splash? DJ LeMahieu? Trevor Bauer? Arenado?

Greg Allen. Hell yeah shoot me in the face. This trade was done yesterday but of course the Yankees official Twitter account had to wait until the Lindor deal went through to fire off this bad boy. Why couldn't they just have skipped the tweet? At least push it back a few days if you have to do it. No one is going to ask where the official Greg Allen trade tweet is. Not a soul. Nah had to hit send and embarrass the organization even further. Awesome. This team needs a common sense department. First the $50k donation to small businesses where they issued a 6 page press release to brag about it. Brain dead tone deaf. This Allen tweet. What the fuck are we doing folks?

So where are all my pals who said don't worry about DJ, we'll just get Lindor! As if the Yankees being uneasy about paying DJ $100 million wasn't a big enough sign they were going to avoid giving Lindor $300 million. You think they want one billion dollars tied up between Cole, Stanton, and Lindor? Maybe George's Yankees, but not this version. That trade was never going to happen.

Now every Yankees fans attention should be zeroed in on LeMahieu. The Lindor pipe dream is gone, let's get real folks. Reports have DJ's asking price down to $110 million with the Yankees sitting in the mid 80s. With the Mets likely out of the bidding war now with Lindor in the fold, you'd think a deal will be made at some point. Bowden is reporting the Dodgers don't want to go to a 5th year which certainly helps the Bronx Bombers' cause. My guess/hope will be 4 years $100 million with maybe a vesting option for a 5th year based on plate appearances or something like that. Get the deal done and then go get some pitching for the love of god. We're about a month away from pitchers and catchers reporting to Tampa, Florida and there are a lot of holes to billed.
